31st Oct,2011 witnessed birth of 7 billionth child on Earth..This child was born in Manila, Philippines named Denica according to UN..Whereas whole world is busy in celebrating this charismatic moment, a thought should be spared on what problems this child could face in her upcoming life....
In India, Nargis , a female child born in Lucknow is being celebrated as symbolic 7 billionth child...
Lets have a glimpse at Nargis's life in India...
Most probably Nargis has migrated to some urban area as most of the people are doing, contributing to 70% of total population of nation...
Year 2017:: Nargis is finally able to secure a seat for her nursery class in a decent school in her city...She had to repeat her playschool twice because she couldn't get a seat in her first attempt.
Her class has 80 students..Teacher is not able to give proper attention to each child.. Her classroom is overcrowded and she has to share her small seat with 2 other girls..
Year 2024:: Nargis has started coaching for IIT-JEE ..She is in 6th Std now, but dreaming about IIT at this moment because she will have to start preparing right now..She neither has time nor place to play because the colony park has been converted to parking space for cars..
Year 2030:: Nargis has scored A++ in her 12th class exams..Yet she is not able to make it into any reputed college because only students with extra merits are allowed to take an extra entrance exam for admission..Competitive exams have a 1:500, selection:appearing students ratio..
Year 2030-- onward:: Because of high economic growth of India, Nargis now drives her own car..But she spends hours in traffic jam daily..Her total time spent in traffic jams amounts to years if added together..
Such will be the life of our future generations if the population keeps on growing at this pace..Of course it is just a projection..Reality can be far different from this..But we'll have to increase our resources and make their smart utilization ...We also have to develop massive infrastructure and try to maintain sustainable development..
